This is a photo of Pop Pop's best Army buddy, "Bodie". My uncle John Reichenbach remembers on a fishing trip, Pop Pop and Bodie told him about a time in the war when Pop Pop saved Bodie's life. When that happened, Bodie vowed to always be nearby if Pop Pop ever needed his help.
After the war, Bodie moved to Pennsylvia to live closer to Pop Pop. In the late 1970's when Pop Pop moved to North Carolina, Bodie also moved. Bodie was in the VA hospital visiting with Pop Pop on the day he died. The day after Pop Pop was buried, Bodie died. Bodie was a very close friend who truly was there for Pop Pop, even to the end.
